Redesign your website without losing traffic

By September 21, 2017 2 Comments

So you’ve decided to redesign your website, or perhaps you’re completely rebranding your entire business? Redesigning a website could be a small spring cleaning project or one of the biggest projects you’ve undertaken to date. With everything to think about from fonts, content, search rankings, bounce rates, target audience, and the dreaded URL redirects, it is enough to put someone off ever redesigning. On the other hand, it can be so exciting that you may just jump in with both feet and start redecorating your landing pages without giving a second thought to your rankings or your audience and it could quite easily turn into one of the biggest failed projects you’ve ever worked on.

Luckily, I’ve created a quick reference guide to make sure you plan your redesign accordingly, but the most eager amongst you can still get started pretty quickly, not missing a thing. If you consider every point in this guide, you should manage to maintain your rankings, traffic, and bounce rates during the transition period and even see them start moving in the right direction following the fresh start.

Designed with SEO in mind, this quick reference guide is not here to provide you with all of the ins and outs of site structure, logo design, or favourable colour palettes. It is to be used as a simple reference guide to make sure you consider all factors, plan your project thoroughly before proceeding with the redesign, and focus on increasing conversions in the near future.
